Susan currently works as the Coordinator for the volunteer service of Buffalo EMS. As with all volunteer services, many hats are worn by everyone. Some hats that Susan may wear include: Instructor, Volunteer EMT, CPR Instructor, accountant, billing clerk, ambulance mechanic, floor sweeper, Mom and basketball/dance chaser. Not always in that order! EMS is very near and dear to Susan and she tries hard to stay involved in many areas that have direct impact on EMS services and protocols. Serving on the OERSDAC and NWRTAB committees keep her in the thick of items that will affect EMS and has given her the unique opportunity to access information to forward to everyone in the NW Region. Susan serves on the Harper County Health Department Board as well as being a board member for the Town of Buffalo. Both keep her involved at the State Capital in many areas outside EMS. Being involved in multiple areas can have an impact on the scope and life of EMS. (If you aren’t involved, you should be!) Those of you, who have met Susan during Medic Update or at other venues, know that she is very passionate about EMS and its future. Granted, she can be a little outrageous. Wearing a crown at conferences is one way of making sure you can find her in a crowd. As a representative for “street medics”, Susan feels it is her duty to be there for you when you call, search for answers when you have questions and dance in the halls when the music plays. She feels it is a privilege to serve as a representative for NW EMS. Susan started her EMS Career in 1997 and has served the OEMTA for the past 5 years! Susan recently completed her certification as NREMT-I.

Treasurer
Kristi Van Ness
With a career at OU already in place, and working part-time as a professional musician, Kristi made a decision one hot August afternoon to enroll in a Basic EMT class “just to see what it might be like”, and before the end of that course was “hooked” on EMS. As she describes it: “I never really meant to be an EMT – nor work on an ambulance – but found I loved EMS and wanted the provision of pre-hospital medicine to become a permanent part of my life”! Kristi holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education and a Masters in Adult Education from the University of Oklahoma, where she worked for 26 years, earning the Regent’s Award for Superior Staff prior to retiring and moving into her “dream job” of teaching EMS. She is currently employed full-time at Metro Technology Centers where she is the EMS Coordinator, managing both full-time paramedic programs and short-term adult health care courses.
Serving first as Secretary and currently as Treasurer, Kristi has been a member of the Executive Board of the OEMTA since 1990.
Kristi continues to work part-time as a paramedic for EMSStat in Norman and at McClain-Grady County EMS. She assists with teaching specialty courses at Norman Regional Health Systems and is also an in-house instructor at McClain-Grady EMS, where she regularly helps train new Emergency Medical Responders. Kristi was honored in 2000 as the OEMTA EMS Educator of the Year, and was nominated in 2007 as the ALS Provider of the Year. She was the 2006-2007 Crime Stopper’s Paramedic of the Year in Norman, and in 2004 represented Oklahoma in Washington D.C. at the American Ambulance Association’s “Star of Life” ceremonies.

Member at Large (Vendor Liason)
Randy Williams
After 25 years in EMS, I realize just how fragile our bodies and lives are. I realize just how little control I really have. With that siad, I try not to leave anything unsaid or done, because we may never get a chance to finish it. I try to keep all things in perspective by staying positive about things that I cannot control. I do that by realizing the things that I can have an effect on. Those include my family, friends, and my own attitude and hapiness. I have 3 sons who are just starting off on their own careers. As I stand back and watch them mature, I can't help but beam with pride as they make there own decisions. I have a philosophy that I carry with me into work. IN THE GAME OF TRYING TO SAVE A LIFE, IT IS NEVER CONSIDERED UNSPORTSMANLIKE TO BE A POOR SPORT WHEN WE LOSE. Randy is a member of the flight team at Tulsa Life Flight and has served the OEMTA for 11 years.

Bill Greenfield
I was first exposed to EMS as a Volunteer Firefighter in 1985 in Brownfield, TX, where I received my commission as a paid Firefighter thru the Texas Commission on Firefighting. I was later recruited to take an EMT course in 1987, and began working parttime for EmergiCare, and still responded to EMS calls as a firefighter. I moved to Beaver, OK., in September 1993, and shortly thereafter became a member of Beaver County EMS, and Beaver Volunteer Fire Department. I am a CPR Instructor thru the AHA, and also an in-house instructor. I was honored by the OEMTA as the Basic EMT of the Year in 2004. I have been on the board as the Chapter President of Beaver County EMS for the last 6 years, and also served one of those years as the WebMaster. I have a strong passion for EMS, and I believe it is an honor and a privilege to be able to serve your fellow man as an EMT. THANK YOU.
